The Cone Zone

I had to go to the vet last week because of a bump on my leg. She worries about bumps and lumps so first she hauled my housemate Aldo to the vet to get poked and prodded. Then the next day, Aldo left the house without even getting breakfast and came back later that night as a big cone head. I thought it was pretty funny to grab Aldo’s cone and drag him around the house. That game didn’t get to last so long, since she apparently didn’t think it was all that funny. Then the next thing I knew, I’d joined the Cone Zone too. My bump was a Mast Cell tumor. It’s gone now, but the Cone is still stuck on my head and Aldo’s too. I don’t know how many more days I will be tormented with this plastic salad bowl on my head, but I’ll keep ramming her in the shins with mine until she takes it off for good.

Hang in there Audie! Ramming your people in the shins and the back of the knees with the stupid cone usually gets it off in 7-10 days. It's a tried and true method.

Good thinking Audie. When I had a cone on my head for A MONTH I took every opportunity to run full speed at mom and stop a liiiitle to late ramming my cone in to her shins. She had these strange blue marks all over her legs for that month. Feel better!

Good luck for a quick recovery, Audie. If it makes you feel any better, you look much cuter than any of the lampshades at my house!

That might be the greatest picture ever! Hang in their Aldo & Audie - you'll both be back in the Cone Free Zone before you know it!

my previous dog had a mast cell tumor at age 12 and she was with me for years afterwards. it's not fair that you had to go through surgery and then the public humiliation of being stranded on cone-y island as well! ;)

Thanks for your sweet notes. Good margins - Audie is fine. Try telling him that though. He's now on the sofa ramming his cone head into my arms while I try to type.

How rude of him to pull on your cone!
I had to wear one for a while and my human told me it's a radar dish to communicate with dogs on other planets. I couldn't chat with the Jetsons' dog Astro, but it really does help concentrate sound though. I could hear the frogs outside a half mile away if I pointed my nose out the window in the right direction. Learn to love thy cone! (Well, at lest learn to tolerate the doggone thing.)
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Oh goodness, Audie! I'm glad you're okay. Besides, you've come through much worse things. And hey, maybe you won't have to wear stretch pants this time. ;p

P.S. Tell Aldo to get well soon, too!

Hey Audie dude,

Hope you and Aldo get rid of that stuff fast. Now you got to get into that positive wave zone and make all those bad cells flee your body.

Cone time isn't any fun. I kept swinging my head opposite my turns like a bike racer, for weeks after the cone came off. I must have been still worrying about running into walls.

Enjoy every day
& I'll check back, Boris

I think I may be in the Cone Zone soon as well. I'm getting neutered in a couple of weeks. Get well soon!

It's not a salad bowl, it's a radar dish so you can search for extra-terrestrial pibbles. Or at least get satellite TV. I had one on my head last year and found it focused sounds so I could hear a squirrel fart a mile away!
